WEBSITE UPDATE

The OCDSB is continuing the process of updating the websites of all schools in the district so as to have greater consistency between sites and to comply with all regulations regarding accessibility. Our new site was recently activated and we have been given permission to alter the site. Our website team is currently in the process of doing exactly that. However, it may still take some time before everything is accurate and up to date. We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

MUSIC MONDAY RECAP

On May 2nd, 2016, for the second year, Ridgemont participated in a national annual musical event known as “Music Monday”. This is the 12th anniversary of this celebration. It provides an opportunity for students and staff to display to their communities how music has positively influenced their lives.

The kickoff at Ridgemont was at 11:35am. It included camaraderie, music, food, good times and it continued until approximately 1pm, after the singing of the Music Monday Anthem, “We Are One”. The song can be found at:   www.musicmonday.ca/anthem/.

NEW PRINCIPAL SEPTEMBER 2016

It is with very mixed emotions that I announce that there will be a change in the admin team for September 2016. I have been appointed as principal behind the retirement of Tom Schultz at John McCrae Secondary School. While I will be sad to leave a school in which I have spent twelve years of my career, I am excited about the opportunity.

VPs Jane Dempsey and Chris Hale will remain in their current roles. I hope you will join me in welcoming Nancy Brady–current principal of Blossom Park–as the new principal of Ridgemont HS. Nancy has been part of the RHS Family of Schools for quite some time and I know she is eager to take on this new challenge. Welcome to the Spartan team, Ms. Brady!
It has been a pleasure and honour to work with all of you and I’d like to take this first of many opportunities I will have to thank you all for your support and your commitment to the students of Ridgemont High School. I don’t think they realize until much later how lucky they were to have had their high school experiences in this building.

REPORT CARDS ISSUED

Semester 2 mid-term reports were distributed on the afternoon of April 26th. Students who were unable to pick up their report cards at that time, they will be available from your first period teacher for the next few days. If you have a spare period 1, they can be picked up in the library.

OCDSB EXCELLENCE IN MENTORING AWARD

Congratulations to teacher and department head Will Nicholson who recently won the 2016 OCDSB Excellence in Mentoring Award. Mr. Nicholson is being recognized for his ongoing commitment to supporting new staff at Ridgemont and throughout the OCDSB. Please join me in congratulation him on this award.

Well done, Will!
